The Mega Evolution Series is Grailborne's flagship Pokémon TCG range — a multi-set expansion line reintroducing the iconic Mega Evolution mechanic to the modern era of the card game. Each set in the series builds on the last, introducing new Mega Evolution Pokémon-EX, high-value Special Illustration Rares, and exclusive promo cards that have become chase targets for collectors across Australia.
The series launched in 2025 and continues into 2026 with new releases every few months. All sets are out of print at retail scale once the initial allocation sells through, which has driven consistent secondary market appreciation across the line.

What to Expect from Each Set
Every set in the Mega Evolution Series follows the same sealed product lineup: Elite Trainer Boxes (9 packs), booster boxes, booster bundles, sleeved single boosters, and premium collection products where available. ETBs are the most popular entry point — they include accessories (sleeves, dice, condition markers) alongside the packs, making them the most complete sealed purchase for both collectors and players.
Special Illustration Rares (SIRs) are the primary chase targets in each set. These full-art, textured cards featuring Pokémon in illustrated scenes rather than traditional card borders have driven the strongest secondary market returns in the modern era. Each set has between two and four SIRs, with the Mega Evolution variants commanding the highest prices.
Investment Outlook
The Mega Evolution Series benefits from a structural supply constraint that most modern sets don't have: each release has a fixed print run with no planned reprints. As product moves from retail shelves into collections, sealed supply tightens permanently. Phantasmal Flames and Ascended Heroes have both appreciated since release as allocation dried up — the pattern is consistent across the series.
The strongest sealed ROI historically comes from holding ETBs and booster boxes rather than opening, particularly for the SIR chase cards which drive most of the secondary market premium. Pre-ordering upcoming sets (currently Pitch Black) at retail before secondary market pricing takes hold remains the clearest entry point.
