One Piece OP-17 “The World’s Strongest Warriors” — Australian Release Date, Spoilers & Pre-order Guide

The 4th Anniversary booster. The Elbaf arc and the Four Emperors. A giant-themed Elbaf card pool. And — for the first time — Australia releases on the same day as the US and Europe, just six days after Japan. This is the One Piece set of 2026.

Bandai official OP-17 announcement — 4th Anniversary Booster, The World’s Strongest Warriors, coming August 2026

Bandai’s official announcement — “A GIANT Adventure Begins”

OP-17 is Bandai’s official 4th Anniversary Booster Pack, themed around the Elbaf arc and the Yonko — the strongest warriors in One Piece. Anniversary boosters are the sets Bandai builds its year around, and this one adds a first the game has never had: a global simultaneous release — plus the Treasure Rare chase slot that anchors every modern set’s box value.

When does OP-17 release in Australia?

28 August 2026 is the confirmed global release date, with official pre-release events at local game stores from 21 August 2026. Crucially, this is the first main booster on Bandai’s Global Simultaneous Release schedule — Australia, the US and Europe all on the same day, six days after Japan’s 22 August 2026 launch instead of the usual two-to-three-month wait.

2026 English One Piece release cadence — OP-14 February, OP-15 April, OP-16 June, OP-17 on 28 August as the first worldwide English same-day launch, OP-18 November
Why the compressed launch matters: until now, Japanese boxes released two to three months early — collectors watched pulls, prices settled, and English demand was split across import copies. OP-17 cuts that gap to six days and puts every English region on one allocation window. Combined with anniversary hype, expect allocations to be the tightest of any One Piece set this year.

The booster box

Reported OP-17 English box design (via tracker networks — final retail packaging may differ)

Standard English format: 24 packs of 12 cards per box, with the reported box art carrying the Elbaf-arc key visual — Luffy in Elbaf armour flanked by the crew. Anniversary boxes have historically been the most-kept sealed product in the game.

Inside the set

OP-17 set breakdown — 45 commons, 30 uncommons, 26 rares, 10 super rares, 6 leaders, 6 SP, 2 secret rares and the new Treasure Rare tier

Tracker lists put the set at roughly 126–128 cards + 1 DON!! — the final official count is TBC. The slot that matters is at the bottom of that chart: the Treasure Rare — the alternate-art top chase that One Piece sets have carried since OP-06. One per set, above Secret Rare, and consistently the single most valuable pull in the box.

Revealed cards — the first official samples

Confirmed by Bandai: the set name, 4th Anniversary status, the 28 August English release, and a set Bandai lists at 131+4 types. The full card list is now public; these four were the first official Japanese samples shown (English wording not final):

Official Bandai sample cards (Japanese reveal) — English text unofficial until Bandai’s EN previews.

Leaders revealed: 2 of 6. Shanks, Kaido and Big Mom are circulating in leak lists but are not officially confirmed. Notice the pattern across every card shown: the cost-12+ “giant” mechanic — Elbaf’s giants are the set’s engine.

And above everything sits the Treasure Rare — Edward Newgate (OP17-040) in the English set, structurally its rarest card.

🗓️ Release week: the spoiler window has closed — Bandai has published the full OP-17 card list, Japan released on 22 August 2026 and the English release landed on 28 August 2026. Both the booster box and the sleeved booster are in stock below while allocation lasts.

💰 The investment angle — the anniversary precedent

You don’t need to guess what happens to anniversary One Piece sets — the last one just showed us. OP-13 “Carrying On His Will” (the 3rd Anniversary booster, November 2025) sold out everywhere and its packs now trade at A$39 each — a box-equivalent around A$936, roughly 5× retail. Even Bandai’s own store is running reprint lotteries for it.

The scarcity premium is already forming on OP-17 itself: as of 2 August 2026, tracked Australian and specialist import retailers were listing genuine booster-box pre-orders anywhere from A$300 to A$650+ — nearly a month before the 28 August street date, and before a single box had shipped.

Anniversary precedent — OP-13 packs now trade at 5x retail box-equivalent; OP-14 sold out at $450; OP-15 $459 (sold out); OP-16 $429 (in stock) versus ~$165 retail
One Piece boxes (English) RRP / retail Sealed now Change
OP-13 “Carrying On His Will” — 3rd Anniversary (Nov 2025) ~A$180 retail Packs A$39 ea → box-equiv ~A$936 ≈5×
OP-14 “The Azure Sea’s Seven” (Feb 2026) ~A$165 retail-equiv. Sold out — last traded A$450 ≈2.7×
OP-15 “KAMI’s Island” (Apr 2026) ~A$165 retail-equiv. Sold out — last listed A$459 ≈2.8×
OP-16 “The Time of Battle” (Jun 2026) ~A$165 retail-equiv. A$429 — in stock ≈2.6×

Retail-equivalent = US MSRP (~US$108/box) converted. ‘Now’ figures are live Grailborne market pricing, re-checked 23 August 2026; OP-13 box-equivalent computed from per-pack pricing (24 packs/box).

OP-17 is the next anniversary booster after OP-13 — and it adds a multiplier OP-13 never had: the six-day global launch window, which removes the import safety-valve that used to absorb demand — every English-market collector hits the same allocation at once.

🏆 The Grailborne Take

88/100
Grailborne Index
OP-17 The World’s Strongest Warriors: Anniversary-grade. Secure allocation early.
Investment-hold rating — weighs set scarcity, historical comparables, pre-order demand & retail-vs-secondary spread.
The OP-13 precedent is the tell. The last anniversary booster went ~5× on pack-equivalent pricing within a year — and OP-17 adds demand drivers OP-13 never had.
The Treasure Rare slot anchors the box. One per set since OP-06, it’s consistently the money pull — and anniversary-set chases historically run hottest. OP-17’s English Treasure Rare is Edward Newgate (OP17-040).
Elbaf/Yonko theme lands mid-arc — Whitebeard and Luffy leaders confirmed, with the manga’s biggest era driving character demand.
Supply is the unknown. Bandai has increased print runs before; anniversary allocations still sold through. Treat day-one allocation as the safe entry — chasing post-sellout has cost 2×+ on every recent set.

Verdict: the strongest One Piece sealed setup of 2026. Buy your box(es) at allocation, not after the sellout.

Grailborne’s mission: as always, Grailborne strives to get modern Pokémon & One Piece sets into the hands of collectors, investors and rippers — securing inventory in high volumes from the secondary market so there’s always something available for everyone.

FAQ

When is the OP-17 Australian release date?
28 August 2026, confirmed — the first time Australia releases on the same day as the US and Europe, six days after Japan’s 22 August launch. Local pre-release events ran from 21 August 2026.
Is OP-17 really an anniversary set?
Yes — Bandai officially calls it the 4th Anniversary Booster Pack. The previous anniversary booster, OP-13 “Carrying On His Will” (Nov 2025), is now one of the most expensive modern One Piece sets.
What is a Treasure Rare?
The rarest pull in modern One Piece sets — an alternate-art chase above Secret Rare, one per set since OP-06. OP-17’s English Treasure Rare is Edward Newgate (OP17-040).
What’s the chase card?
So far: Loki (OP17-119), a Black Secret Rare with Giants/Elbaf typing — Bandai has shown the Japanese sample card, though English text isn’t final. The Treasure Rare above it, Edward Newgate (OP17-040), is the set’s true top chase.
Will the Japanese version release first?
Japan released OP-17 on 22 August 2026, six days ahead. What is new is that every English region — Australia, the US and Europe — released together on 28 August 2026, instead of the usual two-to-three-month wait.
What’s in a booster box?
English One Piece booster boxes contain 24 packs of 12 cards. Anniversary extras, if any, will be confirmed when Bandai publishes full product details.
Can I buy OP-17 at Grailborne now?
Yes. OP-17 released on 28 August 2026. The booster box is in stock at A$719.00 and the sleeved booster at A$29.90.
